
This past November we witnessed the power of community activism in electoral politics. In communities across the country, and right here in Jersey City, people organized their neighborhoods, their schools, and their civic and religious associations to come out to vote for Barack Obama for President. The result was a resounding victory for President Obama and further proof that the energy and spirit of a community cannot be underestimated.
This year, we have another opportunity to use that same collaborative energy in our neighborhoods, this time to make sure that Councilman Fulop can continue the work he has started four years ago. We cannot take this challenge lightly. There is no doubt that the powerful political organization that has controlled this city for decades will be dedicating their efforts to defeat Councilman Fulop in Ward E. They will spend vast amounts of money on campaign literature and television commercials. They will send in people from other parts of the city to canvass our neighborhoods and talk to our community associations.
Therefore we need to work harder and be more organized than ever before — the future of our ward depends on it. We must make sure that the progress in Ward E continues for another four years. Here are some of the ways that you can help:
