Unchecked political contributions, nepotism and dual office holding are the heart of most of our city’s problems that lead to a culture of dysfunction Link Dating back to the days of Mayor Frank Hague, our city has become synonymous with “politics as usual” and a breeding ground for politicians who use their office as a means for political or financial gain. While changing the philosophy that has governed our city for over a hundred years isn’t easy, Councilman Fulop has taken bold steps in addressing this problem – one issue at a time.

  • Partnered with civic group to pass the strictest pay-to-play reform measures in the state Link
  • Advocated for strong adherence to existing zoning laws Link
  • Instituted private sector responsiveness standards to Ward E City Council Office
  • Passed legislation prohibiting the use of endangered woods in publicly bid projects

Unregulated political contributions, policies developed without public oversight and elected officials who use their office for personal gain are problems that continue to destroy the fabric of our city. Despite not being popular with many of the “status quo” politicians in Jersey City, Councilman Fulop will advocate to make bold changes to city government in the next four years including:

  • Charter Revision Study
  • Elimination of multiple job holders
  • Increased transparency to contracting process
  • Inclusion of more residents in government process on boards/city positions
