Van Vorst Park Dog Run

The picture below is an initial sketch provided by the architrect for the dog run located in the North East Quadrant of Van Vorst Park. The Quadrant of the park is drawn to scale with the trees marked that will remain within the run.

The Ward "E" council office was successful in obtaining commitments to help with the cost so we can truly have something of the highest quality. We appreciate any and all feedback as this is not the final version but rather what the architecht felt was best suited. Feedback will guide the process from here.

Some additional details:

  • The Dog run will be 3000 square feet (Small Dog run section is 1000 sq ft Large Dog Run section is 2000 sq ft)
  • There will be a double door entrance to insure dog safety
  • Two water spouts (one for each run) will be located on each side of the second gate entryway
  • The entrance way shown will be stamped cobblestone to be consistent with the rest of the park
  • Surface will most likely be a synthetic material similar to the run in Chelsea
  • Benches will surround the trees in the run to insure health.
  • The fence for the Dog run was shown at the "Friends of Van Vorst" meeting and will be consistent with Historic nature of Van Vorst Park
  • The feedback at the meeting was to extend the dog run an additional several feet east towards the walkway.
